Calls lessened for about a month.

I have received fewer calls in the past month.  Does that mean anything?  Doubtful!!

Recently, I received a robo call from someone - not Rachel.  Have there been so many complaints that she retired? ;)

With the holidays, I haven't felt like talking to the credit card scammers but since it's the last day of the year, I did today. It was from "Card Services"  according to caller ID, phone # 417-800-2333 (SW Missouri area code).  The message was pretty much the usual - ... this is their 2nd and final attempt ... to take advantage of the financial stimulus ...

I had a couple of minutes and pressed 1 to be connected to a service representative.  The rep asked if I wanted to lower my interest rate.  I told him I wasn't sure - the message was about the financial stimulus.  He said, there were different messages that go out so he didn't know what the message was that I heard.   He asked if I had debt over $4000 on my credit card and if the interest was 12% or higher.  I asked if he would be asking for my credit card #.  He went into a big song and dance about legal digital receipts - WHAT? - it would be completely confidential, blah, blah, blah.  When he finally figured out that I wouldn't be providing him with my information, he hung up.  Classy bunch, they are!

My New Year's resolution is to file a report with the Do Not Call Registry every time I get a call.  There's a Do Not Call Registry for my state too.

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Trying to find any way to stop these credit card calls, I also submitted a complaint to the Consumer Financial Bureau.  Seems like consumers need to be protected from Rachel's scam.  They are unable to help with this and referred me to the FTC to fill out a complaint form with them.  This, I have done too many times to count.  I guess they only help once Rachel has completed her scam.

I've had 2 calls this week but haven't answered the phone.  I knew it was Card Services from caller ID but interestingly, no message was left.  Am I getting closer?

Thought I was making progress!

It had been 8 days since I had received a call.  I thought that they were getting tired of me taking up their time with questions to their callers.  I thought that maybe they had taken my number off their list. Last night, I discovered that I was wrong.  The call was at 8pm.  They haven't given up and continue to harass me.  The number they called from last night was 914-594-9011.  The area code is in New York State.

This is a link to the do not call registry where complaints can be filed.

Think robocalls are so ’90s? Think again. Automated phone calls
that play recorded messages from telemarketers are on the upswing,
with many directed at small businesses. And they’re illegal, unless the recipient
has given written permission to receive calls from the company that’s initiating them.
A big exception: Political and get-out-the-vote robocalls. They’re legal.
What to do? Hang up. And report the call to the Federal Trade Commission.

Surprise! Rachel called today!

I haven't been called in an entire week.  Thought I must be finally off their list.  Nope!

The call was from 516-472-9003 (area code is Long Island, NY).  After selecting the option to speak with a rep., I spoke with Lisa Simmons.  She said that I was in excellent standing according to my credit card company.  Really?  Then why do you ask me all of the questions?  We went through all of the questions to see if I qualified.  When she asked for my credit card number, I told her I couldn't give out that information to someone who called me.  She said, I didn't call you.  What?  I told her that I needed to call her back before giving out that information.  (Someone online had suggested that tactic.)

She gave me the phone number 800-847-2911 to call, which I did.  I spoke with Jenna from VISA.  She said, that robo Rachel reps are giving out their number and they're not connected in any way.  Jenna said this has been happening for months and they are working with law enforcement to get it resolved.

What type of people think it's okay to give lie and lie and lie.......?

I'll try reporting to the do not call registry again.  Maybe it will help??

Another Day, Another Call

It was Rachel's voice but caller ID read, "Lower Interest Rates", not Card Services as usual.  Same pitch, same scam evidently.  I didn't answer the phone this time-too tired to deal with them.

The number they called from was 971-220-1918 (Northwest Oregon).

Rachel's Credit Card Services

I decided to play along today.  The guy asked for my name.  Since he called me, I asked how he didn't already know my name.  He said, the calls are transferred to him and he has no idea of whose doing the transfer.  Ultimately, he ended up asking for my credit card number which of course, I didn't give him.

After getting off the phone, I googled "how to contact Rachel's credit card services" and that's when I read what others have posted about this scam.  I see that this is a chronic problem throughout the US.  I read an article from April of this year, stating that they were being cracked down on.  Really?  Not as far as I'm concerned.  I read comments from many stating that they're on the "Do Not Call List".  A lot of good that does.

I have reported them multiple times and so have many others.  What a giant rip off.  I'm just glad I'm smart enough not to give out my personal information.  I feel bad for those who are desperate for help and don't realize the scam. :(

Today's phone number was 507-540-0492 (south Minnesota).

Call Last Night at 7:56

A call at 8pm is way too late at night.  I've never received a call from "Rachel at card services" later than 5pm.

The phone number they called from is 786-358-5551.  The area code is in Southeast Florida.

Rachel at Credit Card Services

407-476-5680 (Florida)

Second call today.  The robo says, there's important information regarding my credit card.  When I selected the prompt for the rep, I asked him what information he had regarding my credit card.  The response was click.

Member Services

A new telemarketer called today.  A different credit card company than Rachel and "Credit Card Services", I guess.  The robo message was that they had sent multiple messages to my home that have gone unanswered.  It said to press 1 for a "friendly" customer service agent.  I asked how they had gotten my number and he (Justin) asked if I had more than $5000 in credit card debt.  I repeated my question and he hung up on me.  That wasn't very "friendly".

The number was 503-457-1049.  The area code is in Northwest Oregon.

Credit Card Services

Wow!  They're on a roll today.  Just got another call from Credit Card Services.  The number they used to call from is 417-800-2309 (Missouri area code).

Credit Card Services

Again, credit card services called.  I didn't answer the phone but heard the message.  It was a robo call and this time from New Jersey.

Another rude telemarketer!!

In 2008, my husband and I took a "free trip" to Las Vegas.  We were required by the time share to attend a presentation.  Of course, the presentation was HIGH PRESSURE.  Ultimately, they ended up being rude when we continued to say NO!

Yesterday, 4 years later, they called my husband to offer the same deal.  (According to the Do Not Call Registry, it's okay for them to call if you've done business with them in the past 18 months.  We had NOT.)

Since, I had surgery and we're not sure when I can travel, my husband told him no.  The man persisted and even asked why we couldn't go.  My husband told him about my health and the dude hung up on him.  Surely, there's a way to stop the harrassment!!

It's interesting how it's always a man caller for the high pressure telemarketing calls.

Second call today!

I just got my 2nd call of the day.  This time I was asleep - I'm taking pain medication since I had recent surgery.  Sleeping helps the body heal so they are disrupting my recovery.  This will be my little project until I'm up and around again.

They must be making a big push this quarter.  I'm not sure I've gotten 2 calls in one day.  This time it was Rachel at credit card services.  The phone number on caller ID from this call is in Southwestern Missouri.  The call from earlier today is in east Tennessee.

I wonder if they think they can beat the system by calling from so many different phone listings??

Rather than continuing to report my calls to the Do Not Call Registry, I'm going to keep up with the frequency and numbers on this blog.

This must be a nuisance for almost everyone.  Not just because dinner is interrupted but

-you just put the baby down for a nap
-you work nights and sleep in the day
-just simply tired and need a nap
-recovering from a traumatic event
-getting ready to leave the house for an appointment

The list can go on and on...

Another day-another telemarketing call...

For I can't remember how long, I have received telemarketing calls.  When it's a live person calling, I politely ask them to put me on their do not call list.  Typically, they are very polite in return and I don't hear from that company again.

The ones that really bother me are robo calls from "Rachel" or "Credit Card Services".  The message is that they have important information regarding my credit card and can lower my rate.  I have the option to select the prompt to discontinue notifications or a different prompt to speak to a representative.  Whenever they call, I don't answer, select the prompt to be removed from their list or speak to the representative.

At first, I selected the prompt to be removed from further notifications.  When that didn't work, I selected the option to speak to the representative.  They are always men and are unbelievably rude.  One representative told me I was stupid, one yelled at me, etc.  You get the point.

I am registered with my state and the federal "do not call registry".  I have reported it multiple times to both and continue to receive these disrupting calls.
